"Nathan"
This little angel was designed
in memory of Nathan, whose mother wrote, " We found out about our son's
birth defect when I was 5 months pregnant. He was diagnosed with
omphalcele ( his internal organs where in a sack outside his body).
We had hope that they could put his organs back into his abdomen.
He was our first child after many years trying and having many miscarriages.
When we first learned of his birth defect we were devastated. So
many of our friends and family rallied around us, we had them all praying
for us. We are Catholic and had nuns from as far away as Africa praying
for our son. It was very comforting. I delivered him by c-section
on November 1 (All saints day) and he immediately went into surgery.
After 2 operations and several blood transfusions, we knew that our little
angel would not make it. On Nov. 4 of that year we turned off life
support and he died in our arms. His name is Nathan and his birthdate
was November 1, 1996. Our faith helped us get through the grief so
I would like something to represent our faith as well a butterfly.
Our story is hard to explain because we had tried for so long to have a
family, we had started to look into adoption prior to my getting pregnant.
Two months after Nathan died we received a call to come pick up our infant
son. I connect our 2nd oldest son to Nathan because I believe that
God sent him to us. He needed a mom and dad and we needed him to
love and hold."
The Nathan angel is about 1 1 /4
inches tall and features a heart with his name and November birthstone.
A small cross adorns the body.
