"Ian"

This precious angel was designed in memory of Ian Malone, whose mother wrote, "My Ian was injured at birth due to medical negligence. He was severely brain damaged and never spoke. He loved the color yellow and watching people dance made him laugh. He had all of the Elmo dancing toys and he took great delight in our Golden Retriever.

Ian became a symbol for the need for healthcare reform when our insurance company tried to stop paying for his life-saving care. You can read about that at Ian's website: www.babyian.com (and see his picture).

The things I associate most with Ian are blowing leaves, balloons and twinkling strings of lights. :-)  I take comfort in knowing Ian's struggle has changed healthcare laws, both here in Washington State as well as nationwide. He inspired me to return to school for my master's degree and to teach classes in medical law and ethics. Ian was always smiling, always happy. Even when he was very ill, he was never grumpy. I miss him a great deal."

The Ian angel is about 1 1/2 inches tall and features a heart that will be engraved "IAN" with his September birthstone beneath his name, a bouquet of yellow balloons, and a music note on his wing depicting his love of dancing.
