Gabriel James

This little angel was designed in memory of Gabriel James whose mother wrote, "He was born just before Christmas so with that in mind we named him Gabriel James.  Gabriel, the angel of the annunciation, the messenger of God. James for my husband’s Grandfather that had passed away a couple of months before.  Gabriel was born almost a month early so we called him an early bird.  In the hospital gift shop my mother found a stuffed robin, it still sits next to his ashes.  For the first 18 hours we had no idea that there was anything wrong with our baby, he was even a great size for being early (6lb4oz).  Things quickly changed, he turned 24 hours old at our Children’s Hospital.  There we were told about his heart.  He had HLHS, hypo plastic left heart syndrome, basically he was missing half his heart.  After the shock had a little time to settle in we debated his options.  In the end we wanted what we felt we best for him, not us.  We chose Compassionate Care.  Only hours after removing all the wires and tubes he died nested between his Daddy and me.

I’ve heard the saying “in our arms a moment, in our hearts forever” and it is so true.  I will always miss him but never regret him."

The Gabriel angel is about 1 1/4 inches tall and features a robin on its wing. His name "Gabriel" will be engraved on the silver heart with his December birthstone.
