This angel was designed in honor of a mother from her daugher who wrote, " I have always tried to do something special for my mother on Mother's Day every year, above all other holidays, because it is the one day of the year that honors all she has done for our family.

My mother, for quite some time now, has worn a small angel pin every day.  A few years back she had most of her left lung removed...I think I realize now that she had tried to wear a guardian angel with her every day since then...perhaps because she is grateful to still be here.

July 2005 she became hospitalized with a disease that was later diagnosed as Guillian-Barre Syndrome.  This disease causes your body to attack it own nervous system, eventually resulting in paralysis, loss of function and breathing.  My mother spent ten long months being hospitalized, then rehabilitation, then a nursing home.  She was finally released to my father's care in May 2006.  She is still rehabilitating on an out patient basis.  Still working on being better everyday. She had to re-learn to walk, to sit, to feed herself, to write her name...everything.  She worked so very hard to come back from where this disease took her.  I never before witnessed such courage, grace, determination and hope.

She spent her whole life taking care of everyone including my father who has always had heart issues.  She had three children two boys, one girl (me, I am the middle child)...lots of grand kids.  Loves her family, her friends, her dog, camping, the beach, reading, cooking.  Guess I don't know everything you might need to know...but the most important thing has already been said.  Her spirit is amazing.  Even when none of us felt any hope...I could see it in her eyes...feel it in her voice....she showed me something of herself I never realized she had.

 I would be honored if you  make an angel for my mother -  something to honor her spirit.   I've loved her my whole life.  But I never realized the depth of her spirit until this disease tried to take her from us.  I now see something in her that I aspire to be...I am in awe of that spirit within her."
